Double Eyelid Loosening Repair: A Patient Case

A patient recently visited our clinic for Double Eyelid Loosening Repair, a procedure performed by Dr. Ga-ram Kim, Board-certified Plastic Surgery Specialist.

Double eyelid folds can gradually become less defined or appear uneven for several reasons, including changes in eyelid tissue, aging, previous eyelid surgery, or changes in the way the fold is formed. When a previously created double eyelid becomes loose or less noticeable, revision surgery may be considered depending on the condition of the eyelids.

During the consultation, the doctor evaluates the existing eyelid fold, the amount and condition of eyelid tissue, symmetry, and the patient’s previous surgical history. The repair approach is then planned based on the individual anatomy rather than simply recreating a standard fold.

In this case, the focus of the procedure was to address the loosened eyelid fold while maintaining a natural-looking appearance and appropriate balance between both eyes. Revision eyelid procedures require careful planning because the tissues may have already been altered by previous surgery.

Recovery can vary from person to person. Temporary swelling, bruising, tightness, or asymmetry can occur during the healing period, and the final appearance generally develops gradually as the tissues settle.

This case also highlights why an individual assessment is important for eyelid revision. The appropriate technique depends on the cause of the loosened fold, existing eyelid anatomy, and the patient’s previous surgical history.
