A patient recently underwent Eyelid Revision Surgery (Blepharoplasty) at our clinic, performed by Dr. Ga-ram Kim, Board-certified Plastic Surgery Specialist.
Revision eyelid surgery can be more complex than a first-time procedure because the surgeon needs to consider the previous surgery, existing eyelid tissue, scar tissue, eyelid position, and the patient’s current eye shape and concerns. The goal is not simply to repeat the original procedure, but to carefully assess what needs to be adjusted while maintaining natural eyelid function and appearance.
Before surgery, the patient underwent an individual consultation and evaluation of the eyelid structure and previous surgical history. Based on the assessment, the surgical approach was planned according to the patient’s specific needs.
During revision blepharoplasty, the surgeon may address concerns such as uneven eyelid folds, excessive or insufficient tissue removal, asymmetry, scarring, or changes in eyelid shape from a previous procedure. Because every revision case is different, the appropriate technique depends on the individual anatomy and previous surgical results.
The patient’s recovery will be monitored following surgery, with attention to swelling, bruising, incision healing, eyelid movement, and overall recovery.
This case also highlights an important point for anyone considering revision eyelid surgery: a second procedure requires careful assessment rather than simply repeating the first surgery. A detailed consultation with a qualified plastic surgeon can help determine what can realistically be improved and what approach may be appropriate.
