We recently treated a patient at our clinic who chose epicanthoplasty for eye enhancement. The patient wanted to refine the inner corners of the eyes and achieve a more balanced, open-looking appearance while maintaining natural facial harmony.
Epicanthoplasty is a surgical procedure that reshapes or adjusts the epicanthal fold at the inner corner of the eye. For some patients, modifying this area can make the eyes appear more defined and improve the overall balance of the eye shape.
Before recommending the procedure, we assess factors such as the patient’s existing eye shape, inner corner anatomy, skin characteristics, facial proportions, and aesthetic goals. This individualized assessment is important because the ideal approach can vary significantly from one person to another.
It is also important to understand that epicanthoplasty is not simply about making the eyes look bigger. The goal is to create an appropriate proportion between the inner corners, eyelids, and surrounding facial features.
After surgery, temporary swelling, redness, tightness, or mild discomfort may occur during the healing period. Recovery and the final appearance can vary between patients, so proper postoperative care and follow-up are essential.
For our patient, the procedure was planned with a focus on subtle refinement, natural-looking results, and overall eye harmony rather than an overly dramatic change.
Every eye is different, and a personalized consultation is the best way to determine whether epicanthoplasty is appropriate for an individual patient.
