Patient Goal → Result: One Patient's Abdominoplasty Journey

Patient Concern

One patient visited RENU Plastic Surgery because they were concerned about excess abdominal skin and a protruding lower abdomen that remained after significant weight loss. Although they had maintained a stable weight through a healthy lifestyle, they felt the loose skin affected their body contour and confidence.

Why It Happened

The abdominal skin and underlying tissues can stretch due to pregnancy, significant weight changes, or the natural aging process. In some cases, the skin loses its ability to retract fully, leaving excess tissue that cannot be improved through diet or exercise alone. Weakening of the abdominal muscles may also contribute to a bulging appearance.

Treatment Approach

Following a comprehensive consultation, Dr. Jae Young Choi evaluated the patient’s abdominal skin quality, muscle condition, body proportions, and aesthetic goals. Based on the assessment, a personalized Abdominoplasty was recommended.

The surgical plan focused on removing excess skin, improving the abdominal contour, and creating a smoother, more balanced appearance while considering the patient’s natural body shape.

Recovery is different for every patient. Swelling and temporary discomfort are expected during the initial healing period, and the abdominal tissues gradually settle over the following weeks. Patients receive individualized postoperative care instructions and attend follow-up appointments to monitor healing and recovery.
