How My Brother's Rhinoplasty Recovery Progressed Over Time

My brother recently had rhinoplasty with Dr. Jong-Hyun Park at Soon Plus Plastic Surgery, and since I was closely involved throughout the process, I thought I’d share what I observed.

Before the surgery, he had been thinking about it for quite a while. He wasn’t looking for a dramatic change—he simply wanted his nose to look more balanced with the rest of his facial features. Like most people, he was nervous about both the procedure and the recovery.

On the day of surgery, I noticed that the medical team took time to explain everything clearly, which seemed to help calm his anxiety. The consultation beforehand was detailed, and Dr. Park discussed realistic expectations rather than promising perfection, which I appreciated.

The first few days after surgery were probably the most challenging. His face was swollen, especially around the nose and under the eyes. There was some discomfort, but it appeared manageable with the medications and aftercare instructions he was given. During that stage, it was hard to imagine the final result because the swelling made everything look different.

By the second week, most of the bruising had faded, and he started feeling much more comfortable going about his daily routine. The changes were becoming easier to see, although his nose was still healing.

Over the following months, I noticed gradual improvements rather than an overnight transformation. The swelling continued to go down, and the shape looked more refined and natural. What stood out to me was that his nose didn’t look “done” or overly altered—it simply fit his face better.

Looking back, the recovery required patience, but my brother is happy with his decision. From what I observed, the process was smoother than we initially expected, and the results developed naturally over time rather than appearing all at once.
