Can Double Eyelid Reduction Create a Softer and More Natural Eye Appearance? A Case Study

Patient Concern

A patient visited Gangnam Seoyon Plastic Surgery because the existing double eyelid crease appeared too high and prominent. Rather than wanting a completely new eye shape the patient hoped to reduce the crease and achieve a softer appearance that better matched their facial features.

Pre-Treatment Evaluation

During the consultation Dr. Dongil Choi carefully assessed the patient’s existing eyelid crease, eye shape, skin condition, previous surgical changes and overall facial proportions. The evaluation helped determine how much the crease could be reduced while maintaining a balanced and natural-looking result.

Customized Treatment Approach

The procedure focused on lowering and refining the existing double eyelid crease rather than creating an entirely new crease. Where necessary previous scar tissue and altered eyelid tissues were carefully addressed to improve the contour and symmetry of the eyes. The treatment was customized to the patient’s individual anatomy with the goal of reducing the overly prominent appearance while preserving the natural character and movement of the eyelids.

Recovery Process

Mild swelling and bruising can occur during the early recovery period following eyelid revision. These changes gradually improve as the tissues heal. Following post-operative instructions and attending recommended follow-up appointments can help monitor the healing process.

After the Treatment

As the swelling subsided the eyelid crease gradually appeared lower and softer. The eyes developed a more balanced appearance with the revised crease blending more naturally with the patient’s facial features.
